Difrakti [2009 - ongoing]
Inspired by the flows of energy all around us Difrakti explores the topics of interference patterns and diffraction for audiovisual composition.
In contrast to diffraction, which can be described as the way in which waves of finite extent propagate in free space, Difrakti uses infinite waves in infinite space. While diffraction occurs whenever propagating waves encounter objects in space Difrakti is not bound by these rules. By using a virtual space inside a computer it’s possible to abuse the rules of real-world physics. This results in a world of complex and detailed patterns that, while being totally digital, have a very organic quality.
